I've made and commissioned my fair share of drapes over the years. They never fail to bring a room together. Like a well-fitting piece of clothing, they can camouflage a number of blemishes. Always one to think outside the box, I've even been known to use drapes to create a canopy bed.
Although this is a pretty traditional application, the impact of these ripple fold hemp beauties from The Shade Store is still transformative. If you've been following my One Room Challenge, you'll know that the room has one awkward window with a deep ledge at the front of the space. The first step in softening the look, was to install floor to ceiling drapes.
Lucky for me, The Shade Store generously offed to help me out. I headed over to their showroom and to my delight, they stock the most amazing array of fabrics. I already knew more or less what I wanted when I went into the store, but the staff is super knowledgeable and helped point me in the right direction!

I always like to try and turn a negative into a positive feature, so my plan is to add more plants to the window shelf. Giving the shelf a purpose definitely, helps the whole thing feel more intentional. It also gives the impression of a garden view out the window.

I think a mix of easy to grow, low-light tolerant Philodendrons is the way to go. There are lots of different varieties so you can get a pretty mix of colors and shapes. If you don't have a green thumb or like me, don't want to have to water your plants all the time, these beauties are for you.
